Ontario ARU Requirements (City of London)

The City of London actively encourages ARUs as part of its housing affordability and community diversity strategy. ARUs are permitted under Ontario Regulation 711/91 and London's Official Plan.

  • ARUs permitted on zoned residential properties (single-detached, semi-detached, duplex)
  • Maximum of 4 total dwelling units on one lot
  • Maximum floor area of ARU cannot exceed 80% of primary dwelling floor area
